Welcome to GMPTE's Yellow School Bus website

Yellow School Buses are a great way for pupils to get to school. They've proved a huge success throughout Greater Manchester since they were introduced in 2003 and we're hoping to roll them out to as many more schools as we can.

This website tells you all you need to know about the region's Yellow School Buses - what they are, where they go, and how to join in.

Yellow School Buses help to make sure that pupils are on time for school, and that they're well behaved on the journey. They also mean that parents don't need to do the dreaded school run which in turn helps to reduce congestion and is better for the environment.

The service

So what's unique about the Yellow School Bus service?

  • Pupils sit in the same seat every day.
  • Each seat has a three-point seatbelt and there is no standing.
  • Pupils and their parents sign a Code of Practice.
  • Every child has a Yellow School Bus pass and photo card.
